Military Rank

Military Rank Detail
There are 38 military ranks including the starting rank of Conscript. One rank is awarded for each honor or decoration achieved following ‘Conscript’ status (the default rank for a new player) and eventually rising to the rank of ‘Supreme Commander’ for a player that achieves all honors and decorations. It is not possible to reach the highest ranks through excessive play-time and accrual of XP. Honors and decorations can only be achieved through team-play and combat, and the resulting military rank represents a player’s entire past-performance to other players when on the battlefield. It is prefixed to their player ‘cross-hair name’ and displayed on the scoreboard in short-hand. The mission end screens also allow players to review the other players on a server allowing them to examine each other’s proficiency paths.
Military ranks are not based on accrued XP and therefore do not have the traditional exponential requirement of greater and greater XP to level up.
However, ‘Decorations’ are significantly harder to achieve than ‘1st Honors’, and as such players within the top 12 military ranks have clearly achieved significant goals, regardless of how they went about it (since you can’t more easily achieve the rank of colonel or higher without having completed all ‘honor’ achievements).
The same is also true for those players that have achieved field officer ranks (it is significantly harder to achieve a 1st Honor then a 2nd Honor).
It's important to note that players must play on officially ranked servers to acquire achievements and ranks. If you play on a local network, against computer or on an unranked internet server, your statistics will not be recorded.
